1. Where can I recycle my plastic water tank in Auckland?

You can recycle your tank through specialised plastic recycling companies. Some businesses like Vision Plastics offer collection and drop off services. Others may only offer drop off.

2. How much does it cost to recycle a plastic tank?

Some companies like Vision Plastics offer free recycling depending on certain circumstances- you are welcome to fill out an enquiry form here to start that process.

3. Do I need to clean and cut the tank before recycling it?

Yes. Tanks should be emptied, rinsed and cut into 1m2 pieces before being collected. Any leftover sludge, chemicals, or debris can interfere with the recycling process. The plastic needs to fit in the FREE 1m2 bulk bags we provide.

4. What happens to my tank after it’s recycled?

Once collected, the plastic is:

  • Cut and shredded

  • Washed and processed back into its natural form

  • This recycled plastic is then used to make new plastic products like pits, lids and road barriers!

5. Can cracked or broken plastic/tanks be recycled?

Absolutely. Even damaged tanks can be broken down and recycled.

Yes, Vision Plastics offer collection and drop off services New Zealand wide depending on circumstances. We allow drop offs to certain hubs around New Zealand.
